Mom just spoke to the other house mover in the area. His price is all-inclusive (roof removal, foundation pouring, permit/escort acquiring, etc) but it would come to $25,000! He seems to be a lot more competent than the other guy as well. (The other guy didn't think that we would need to pour any sort of foundation under the pilings, whereas this guy says that would be a definite requirement, which was what I had thought.) While that's a hell of a house for $25k (there's no way we could get something like that built out there for that price), we don't have that kind of cash on hand. And while normal people would just go get a loan, my mom is very Ayn Randish in a paying cash for items kind of way. Mom is going to think on it for a day or two before making her final decision. What do you guys think?

You certainly can't beat a house for that price! As long as it's in good enough condition you won't spend and equal amount on repairs, I say go for it! I understand about your mom though - off and on she's been weird about taking out loans and having to owe money to someone
The $25,000 would just get the house out to the land. Then there's the cost of running electricity ($6,500), drilling a well and connecting the plumbing ($5,000?), repairing the water damage ($3,000?) Still would be worth it if we were in need of a house and the alternatives were building or buying; and/or if we had the money. (yes, I'm the weird mom just mentioned. Debt is evil.)
I was thinking the same thing, there is not just the moving fee but alot of additional fees for getting the house ready to move into. With the general damage to the house I think your probibly looking at closer to $40-45,000 before its done. Now thats still a good price for a house regardless. I know I'm not much help in the matter but I guess you just have to decide whether you want the house and are willing to put the time and money into it. I probibly would.
Like I said on FB, I think it's a good price still. Though, what would the house be used for? Would someone move out there? Once you start getting to the 40-50 range, I don't know how good of a deal it is considering you could probably buy a house on some property for that amount...unless there is a particular reason you want the house at the land.
