There is currently a huge fire burning just to the south-east of Waycross, GA (where I live when I'm in the US). The fire was apparently started by a tree falling onto a powerline. The Satilla Regional Medical Center has posted an excellent site, containing up-to-date information on the location of the fire, medical concerns, volunteer needs, photographs, maps, etc. To keep informed on the fire, please visit their site here. The map and photographs below were taken from the Satilla Regional Medical Center's fire-update website.

Yikes!
I can smell it, Jane. I woke up and came downstairs and it's in the house, the smell.
*fingers crossed*
From that far away? Damn!
Actually, looking at the Gville Sun, there seems to be another fire closer to us. Something on this side of the border.
I suppose it is that that I smell!
However, it still sucks. I will keep an eye on things today. It's quite smokey out, but there's no ash in the air.
Caitlin - It might very well be the GA fire that you're smelling - check this out!
Huh! My dad works in Hamilton county (PCS) so, pretty near the border. He keeps tabs on all of these, too. He was saying that part of the problem is that the Okefenokee(sp) is a peat bog(?), ie, fuel. No idea.
