I heard this in the car...it almost seemed surreal.
i heard this or another one, the guys in jail, oh wait they are "detainees" sharing poetry with each other, talking about spending a vacation at daytona beach...now in Guanto.
When I think of our president, he appears in my head as a little boy whose answer to most things is to blow things up...I can't help it. he, to me, is a little boy in a big man's suit who has no idea what he's doing but doesn't even really know how inept his solutions are. I attribute this blind spot to a privileged upbringing, raised to be a president, a warrior, that it would never occur to him that he was really, really really wrong.
But the American public is also fickle, they never like the 2nd term of any president in the past 40 years. And for the last three presidents with a 2nd term, Reagan, Clinton and now Bush, it is for good reason, it seems.
Yep, that was the one. Heart-wrenching. The kind of stuff the US is supposed to be "above" - although Abu Graib proved beyond a doubt that we aren't... this is just more evidence.
I'm sure W truly believes he's right. I think that's part of what makes him so scary.
