Well, you shouldn't expect anything less from someone who scored the highest in compatibility with you on that test a while back!
It's funny, I was just thinking how the ability to communicate via the web makes the world such a smaller place. I read your blog almost every day, but hardly ever post because, well, I don't actually KNOW you. I just got hooked when you were in Russia because I had lived there as well, and it was fun to read about your similar experiences. (I really miss that screwed-up country!) However, now I see some story about Waycross, GA and my first thought is "I'll bet Jane would be interested in that." It's a weird combination of closeness and distance. Closeness, because I know a lot about your daily life and adventures, and distance because, as I said, I don't really know you at all.
Enough philosophical musings for the day! Off to court!

I heard about that on NPR today and I thought of you right away. I hope you never tried to pull anything like that in elementary school!
I listened to the comments of a mother who had a daughter in that school but in the other 3rd grade class.
Everyone seems to be at a loss to know exactly what to do.
I'm curious to know what disciplinary actions, or other corrective actions you think might be appropriate.
From looking at the implements the kids brought with them, it seems obvious that they were planning to do something seriously unpleasant to their teacher, and as such should definitely receive a severe punishment. However, it should definitely be something age-appropriate (expulsion, some sort of kiddy-community-service, maybe a stint in some kind of juvvie hall) - something to show the kids that this was a serious mistake. If it is treated lightly because of their age, they won't learn that what they did was (or planned to do) was terribly wrong.
