My Laptop Is Dead

And I am so very sad. Why does this keep happening to me? Do I just have terrible laptop karma? I hope the Koreans will be better at fixing my current computer than the Russians were at fixing my previous one. Until I get this remedied, I suppose you'll be hearing less from me :-(

Last week everybody I know got sick. This week everybody I know is having their computer die. Sorry for somehow bringing this on you!

I think laptops are just cheap devices and prone to fail.

Check out the new Nikon CoolPix P5000. Has all of the regular exposure modes, ASMP, a hot shoe and also the only new Nikon point and shoot with an optical view finder. 10 mp.

I have really bad luck with laptops too. Mine is on its last leg. I blame grad school. Korea killed my Mac. Good luck with getting it fixed. Mine wouldn't turn on the other day so Alex hit the battery area with the palm of his hand. That didn't work so then he did the same to the hard drive area. Strangely, that caused it to come on. It's worked several times since then too.

I'd like to escape to a world without laptops (and electricity). I would be worried about what this means -- but I think that it is just 20+ years of end of the school year, spring fever catching up with me.

Also, tell Glenn that he got me sick too. During the original BSG posts on sickness I was in Brazil, so I read them late. But as soon as I read them the next day I got a 102.6 fever and started throwing up. Thanks a lot, Glenn!

(P.S. the word verification is "sodtxt"!)

Glenn - This IS your fault. Get yourself a No Physical Harm shirt and wear it every day.

Don - I *have* checked it out, and it is definitely on my list of things which I must buy. After I figure out what to do regarding this lack of computer thing.

Melissa - as much as I am tempted to give my computer a good thwack! I figure I won't. I'm hoping that at the very least my harddrive can be rescued; don't want to damage things further.

Jane, My laptop power supply went out today. This is the fourth one that has died in the 2 years I've had this laptop.

You know, my old Dell (in addition to having the lid/screen attached to the keyboard by duct tape) also had power supply problems... Also, after my six weeks at SZ, I simply believe that Dell is Evil.

Did someone tell you that Koreans love to sell the IP address to hackers?
It killed 2 Harddrives over there from us :(

The second time we have been over there, we didn't let the Internet guys get to the computer, just hook up the cable and I didn't have any problems....wonder why?!

You sure do have a Firewall and Virusscanner?

I'm definitely firewalled and virus protected. Just got the computer's innards cleaned. Hope that helps.
