It's official - I'm coming home!

I now have a plane ticket home to the US - Mia and I will be flying into Jacksonville at 5:30pm on September 6th! Northwest's weight limit for carry-on pets is 15lbs for pet and carrier combined; Miss Lard Butt Mia is hovering just under the limit. I've decided to curb her food intake a little (no more endlessly refilling food bowl... at least not until September 7th), and have borrowed Gwen's scale in order to keep tabs on her weight:

Poor Mia - though beats being left behind! How do you think that she'll adjust to living with so many other critters? Also, what about Brie? Will she be joining you at the cat house?

The trip is definitely going to be unpleasant for her. As far as adjusting to the critters... my mom installed a kitty door in my kitchen, and they've been spending a good bit of time outdoors. There won't be many cats in my house when we get there... I'm just worried about how she's going to adapt to going outside. Do you think she speaks kitty-English? (Or kitty-Ebonics?)

As far as Brie, she has happily adjusted to life with Aunt Mary. As much as I'd love to have the little biter, I know I'm never getting her back :-)

Mia's so adorable! I hope she handles the journey back alright. I might have to charter a plane to get giant Kamikaze to Canada!

15 lbs total? I guess I'm never taking Ophelia on a plane. She's about 17 or 18 lbs on her own.

When you get back, I think that you should get her a Konglish name tag to wear :-)

Yes! A Konglish name tag!

Great Kitty Fun Has Name Of Mia?

My bet is on Mia not liking Waycross and becoming such an acidic complainer that she forces you back to Korea.

Well, maybe we'll all be glad to see YOU home safely too, as well as Mia!

Different airlines have different regulations. Any that would accomodate a dog can work with larger cats!

Here's to hoping our kitties adjust to their new countries.

Also, I don't think Mia + carrier being 15 pounds makes her a lard butt. We had a cat with a stomach the size of a bowling ball who weighed in at about 18 pounds by himself. THAT'S a lard butt.

But yay Jane is coming back!

Well, the carrier only weighs 1 pound, so the bulk of the weight is ALL Mia. However, she really is not fat, she's jut big boned. And believe me, I'm no stranger to genuine ginormous fat cats!

so you can actually take her onto the plane with you in the cabin? or will she go in the cargo area? dosen't the carries need to be big enough for a litter tray too?

as long as mia and her carrier are under 6.5kg, she can go in the cabin. and sadly, no room for a litter tray :-(

also, weight limits vary by airline. 6.5kg is for Northwest.
