Just today I broke an SD card. Honest! I never expected it to happen. I switch between two of them in my little cool pix. I also use a Compact Flash on my SLR and an XD card on my Fuji.

I was putting one of the SD cards into the little plastic case and I knocked off the little switch that locks the card. It just came out. So then I tried to put it back in and I put it back in backwards and wouldn't go back in the camera, So I took it out and it fell on the carpet in my office witch is grey and blue and I lost it. I even tried using a flash light to see if I could find it. Now the card is locked.

So now I'm not a big fan of SD cards. The little lock thing is not needed and a design flaw if you ask me after this. There is no reason to lock the card when you think about it. It's just a weak point in the design.

So be careful of that! If it comes out and you can't get it back in or loose it you are screwed.

Take a backup card. With 2 gig you probably won't even pull it out of the camera the whole trip, but be advised, SD cards do fail if the switch comes off. :(

Thanks for the info - I'll definitely be careful with it!
