Well, while I'm still waiting on the results for whose photos will appear in JPG Magazine's Issue 12, they've already announced one of the themes for Issue 13: Passport. This is how they describe this theme:
A passport is an invitation to see the world. Exotic destinations, new places, unique discoveries; travel photography is a way to bring the world home. For this theme we'd like to see photos that show us the destinations that you find most exciting in the world. Where is that special place that you can't stop talking about?
Now, we all know that travel photography is what I live for... but how can I choose just one photograph?! Please leave me your comment and tell me which one is your choice! I like the Lake Baikal one, personally. Far fewer people have been there and it's a destination you don't just stumble upon.
Just to clarify - you mean #4 right? 'Cause #11 is at Lake Baikal too.
Jane, Lake Baikal is my second, but the one you have to submit is #2. It is an amazing photo, and I think that it will catch a number of eyes.

Wow, these are all pretty incredible! But I have to put my vote on #4 as well. It seems the most thrilling because that motorcyclist is coming right at the camera (right? or away?).

I was gonna say that, while not my personal fave, #4 is most likely to win contests. Very unique.
I like the girl with the chick, but not for this topic.
#2, #10, and #8 are my favorites for that topic, in that order.
I like #4, #7, and #11 the best. I might say 7 is the overall best for me.
I'm stuck between 7, 11, and 12. So.. 1/3 vote for each! :)
My vote is for #2. It is so beautiful and enchanting...makes me want to go there.
I liked all of them but my two favs are (A) #3 the Monastery close-up and (B) #12 Bullo Dong Tombs.
I seriously want to visit both of those places.

I like Happy Jason. Happiness is a special place in this rather cruel world and sometimes all it takes is a little imagination to be one's passport to that place of smiles and laughter.
As much as I feel for my students constant studying and class time, in a different era these youngsters could have been toiling away as child labor as seen in Lewis Hine's photos of the "Breaker Boys."
Take a look at these great and influential pictures and see how many are of pain and suffering. You may need to use Netscape or Firefox to see most of them though.

I'm with Diana. #4 is most likely to win a contest. #2 is the place I'd most like to visit, but not until Russia makes reasonable visa regulations!
Of course, #14 is a sentimental favorite. I think one would have to had been there to really appreciate what's going on though.

I agree that the motorcycle on Lake Baikal is the most interesting and unusual, but I still love Spirit of Burkhan...it's just stunning.
Jane, the fact that you have all of these to pick from in the first place is just awesome. You're my hero.
I think #4 would be the most "magazine worthy" (puffy clouds and all) photo but my favorite is def the girl with the baby chicken. That picture (along with your story about it) is pure culture.
